MealBoard - Meal Planner App Reviews

total deal changer for us

I am so happy with this app I could cry. I love the way it cuts all the BS out of blog post recipes, I love the way it syncs across devices and as a mathematically challenged person I simply adore the way I can scale up recipes with one click. So useful! I guess if I had to complain about something, I would say the search feature for recipes online is not laid out very well although that does little to dampen my enthusiasm. I havent used the other apps but I did a lot of research and am extremely pleased that I picked Mealboard.

Good program

Need to add the barcode scanner to shopping list. It is in pantry but not shopping. I buy some on the fly and dont want to go to pantry to add it the select it to put on the list.

Meh.

Dont bother wasting your money on this app. It isnt worth getting, too plain without the simple.

Not bad , could be better

Ask every 3rd time user goes in for review instead of every freaking time. After while pisses you off and you almost want to give bad review because of that. Should be able to export list more easily. Set minimums with notice.

Great app

Only thing missing is calorie/nutrient tracking (hint, hint)

Makes meal planning easy

Very intuitive and easy to use. Visually appealing. Love the web supported recipe entry feature. Recipes are easy to input, assign to days, and move around. Like being able to assign one recipe to multiple categories. This app has made menu planning fun!

No recipes

I thought there would be a ton of recipes to shift through and add to a weekly meal plan - there is not! I had to upload from my other apps to add recipes to this app. This app does put everything into a shopping cart, but too many steps to get recipes into app. Not a fan...sad I wasted the money.

Perfect

If youre looking for an app to store your recipes, plan meals for the week, and then easily create a shopping list for needed ingredients, then this app is absolutely perfect for that. Easily worth the price. Buy this app without hesitation.

Love this!

I was a bit unsure about the $3.99 price because I have bought similar apps and been underwhelmed. I never write reviews but am taking the time for this one because it really is fantastic and deserves it. This app can plan meals, build a (customizable by store) shopping list, keep track of what is in my pantry and store recipes all at once. It also has a very customizable, intuitive interface that learns your preferences quickly and saves everything you do so you only have to enter it in once. Whether you live by yourself or have a family of 8 this is a super useful must have!

Great app

Exactly what Ive been looking for. Very helpful and I love being able to import from some of my favorite websites. Always room for improvement but still this is now a part of my weekly meal prep/planning routine for sure

Great app

Ive only been using this app for about a week but I really like how it helps me stay organized. Ive scanned in all my pantry items so if Im at the store I can see what I have instead of having to try and remember and then buying unnecessary items, just in case. The only thing I would like to see is a way to search recipes based on my pantry items. Add that and Id give it 5 stars!

This app has literally changed my life

Not only is this the best meal planning app available, but customer service is outstanding. My desire to import recipes from my favorite web site "cooks illustrated " was realized within hours of writing a request to support. I dont write reviews but its really my only way to show my gratitude.

Easy to use

I like the ease of use as far as adding recipes, planning out the week of meals. I would suggest to the developers to make the week beginning and ending functions a little more detailed. Such as being able to set the start day of the week. Shopping list print functions are a little difficult. Would be nice to be able to just check things in the pantry that are needed and print out those items that are checked. Rather than printing everything on multiple sheets of paper. Columns would also be nice. Im trying to be green and not waste paper :-)

Love it! Except for one minor thing...

I LOVE this app! Coming from a stay at home mom, it makes meal planning so easy! Its phenomenal. The only improvement I would suggest is adding more options to the websites you can import recipes from. (Theglowingfridge.com hint hint :) We eat a primarily plant based diet and youre somewhat limited to what websites youre able to access and get recipes from. Other than that, its perfect! Thanks!

Needs improvement

I think this is a really good app, but as I used it I realized it was missing some key features and was disappointed. I gave it a three so that it gets attention and hopefully the programmers will see it to make improvements. I tried to contact them directly but my screen blanked out every time I hit the contact button. I have used many different meal planners overtime in the suggestions that I am making our ones that I have seen in the past that would help put the finishing touches on this awesome app. 1. Recipe ingredients should have have an option for you to add them to your shopping list of things that you need. Instead it says it says "show in groceries" when I need it to show up on my shopping list when I dont have it. I do notice you can make a meal note when you add the recipe to the calendar, which is where I could list each ingredient missing from the list. But that is time consuming when their could just be a button or something under "show in groceries" that says " add to shopping list." 2. When you pick out a new recipe and it has the generic ingredients listed which dont match the exact wording of how it is listed in your pantry. It makes it look as if you dont have the ingredient. Then you have to go in and edit the recipe to find And match the ingredients so that the pantry is accurate. It would be nice if when you click on it if it would automatically pulled up keywords that are related to the main ingredient so that it would save time. After your recipe ingredients are established, update pantry is a nice feature to take you right to that item from your recipe and subtract what was used. 3. It would be nice if when you are you searching for things in the pantry if it would search by the title of the aisle that it is in since that is the way that it is organized. Sometimes I do not know the exact wording for the item but I do know what Isle I organized it under. The problem is as you add more items the pantry takes a long time to scroll down through especially if the item is one of the lower categorized Isles. 4. Once you complete making a recipe it should have a button to click reflecting that, then it should automatically subtract all the ingredients that were used in the recipe from the pantry list. This would negate the need to manually go in and find each item in the pantry and individually adjust each stock amount. 5. The barcode scanner should have an arrow in it if it requires you to pass it through in a certain direction. I have seen others like that and this one seems to work in the same manner. It works best it seems when I put my phone over it from below the barcode and scan upwards slowly until I cross the center of the phone. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Meh

I wish there was a way to take a picture of a recipe (without importing) to add. Its rather tedious and annoying to add in all the recipes Id like to use. This would be great, if I had entire days to waste typing in recipes.

I absolutely love this app.

The person that created this app is genius. I love love love the ability this app gives me to find recipes on line that i want to make over and over again and it helps me organize a grocery list. It was definately worth the investment.

Great features, well thought out, easy to use

At first I wasnt sure how powerful this app would be, but it is full of great features that are easy to use. My bigger concern was getting all my recipes from various websites into one app in a timely manner. The MealBoard website is great for that, allowing easy import of ingredients and instructions for sites not supported for import by URL. The app has lots of features and it takes only a short time to become familiar with how to navigate them. There are helpful tips that pop up periodically too. The grocery list labels items by recipe, which is great if youre trying to remember when you need an item or what for. I havent used it yet, but Im excited to have the template feature. Im so glad I picked this app and its way better than paying a monthly subscription, which I wasnt willing to do.

Free apps dont compare

I rarely write reviews but this app is very well done and worth the money. As always for paid apps, I tried a free one first to see if I could get the same thing and wasnt satisfied. This app is very customizable so I can have categories like "low carb dinners". It also doesnt assume I will only eat from its recipe database or allrecipes.com and I can import recipes from anywhere. Well worth the money, I even paid 2x to get it on my iPad.

mealboard...the best app

I dont normally do reviews, but I had to on this app. Ive had it for a while now and I absolutely love this app. It is my favorite. Well worth the money spent. I highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to make their meal planning and grocery shopping a lot less stressful. Thank you guys, great app!!!
